The Color of Royalty

Treat yourself like a queen! Any time I go to a formal party I dont usually want to be noticed by the amount of color on my clothes. I love my black and white attire because it always looks elegant and classy. When I am feeling like I need to add color, I use the perfect pair of shoes.

What would be more perfect than the color of royalty! A dark blue or deep purple is a perfect match for any occasion. Don't be mistaken, these colors match with almost anything. weather its casual or formal it is a perfect fit and can make any outfit look just a bit more classy than before.

The best way to do this? I like a shoe like Manolo Blahnik's: Something Blue. The material is satin so it brings out that extra shine along with a square gemed embellishment. The dark blue color gives it that amazing elegance so you can wear it anywhere!

No wonder it was made famous by our favorite movie! Sex and the City!

All that Glitters is Gold

The new year is bringing in many new styles and trends. What's going to be hot this season? GLITTER!

Nothing says fresh start like sparkles and bright colors and glitter. I don't mean add some more eye shadow or body mist, I mean your wardrobe! Or better yet, your shoes! whether it be heels, flats or even on sneakers; there will be glitter walking around everywhere this year. It is the best way to look elegant while adding some sparkle to your step.

You might ask: Is the look going to be overboard? No, as long as wear only one article of clothing (your shoes) with glitter and the rest without, you will look amazing and wear it for any occasion.

Preferably, I would pick a gold tone because it is more of a warming glow. They do, however, make glittery shoes in all sorts of colors. Blue, silver, pink, purple, you name it, they make it. You can even find the infamous pair that our old friend Dorothy wore when she wished to go back home (another instance where glittery shoes are magical)!

Flats for the Festivities

I know, Christmas has already past, but New Years is certainly on its way! And what better New Years resolution than to feel more confident this year. As much as I rave and rant about heels, there is no pair of shoes compared to glamorous flats that can actually make a woman feel more confident in her own skin. You won't be worrying about your feet hurting all night or if you might fall on the dance floor after one too many glasses of champagne. You will simply slip them on and completely forget about them, that is of course until someone compliments you on how fashionable you are.

All you need is a pair of flats that stand out, whether it be an embellishment, sequins, or animal print.

There is only one little problem. If your feet are bigger than a size 8 they might look that way. The trick? The bigger your feet are, the darker the shade you must wear. So if you are a size 9-10 1/2, go for the black sequin, or a navy blue with a bold embellishment.

So stay comfortable and confident this season and don't worry about any mishaps during your New Years Eve Party!

Perfect Match

During this time of year we are all invited to different events and parties. The best part about it? Shopping for the perfect outfit! However, many times I will have an outfit all together, but can't seem to find a perfect pair of shoes to go with it. Not only that, I will tend to come up with the perfect shoe in my head before I find it. For example, I had an 80's party to attend and I had the perfect outfit. The more I looked at my outfit the more I realized that the perfect shoes to go with everything would be black and white snake skin heels. Even though that is not too hard to find, I was looking for something more specific. I was looking for 3 in heels without a pump. As simple as that sounds, all I could find were pumps that were 4 1/2 inches or higher. Sometimes it seems like the second you start looking for something, that's the only time you can't find it. Well I have discovered something that will save all women from this problem.

There are tons of "Design Your Own Shoe" websites! Some of these sites have 50 color options to pick from with 20 different style shoes. That isn't even the best part. Instead of a pair you spend $80 that you are not in love with, you can spend the $10 extra and create your very own unique set. There are no limits and every site has different options. You could have lime green lining with a pink heel while the rest of the shoe is gold metallic (That's just an example). Even if you're not looking for anything in particular, I suggest googling "Design your own shoes" and trying it out. Don't be afraid to use your imagination!

In the Nude

How can a woman look naked without actually being naked? As you've seen in so many music videos and recent VMA's, celebrities wear glittery, skin tone outfits (you may recall Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez). It gives the illusion that they aren't wearing anything and are covered in sparkles! Well if you don't want to be that risky, you can try one article of clothing, which in my opinion, would be shoes. The reason is that you won't feel self conscious in them unlike a nude blouse or shorts which you might worry if it might be too inappropriate.
If you don't believe me, you don't have to, because its a huge trend right now! And it won't be going out of style anytime soon. Want to know why?
These magicians look so good on your feet because it gives the illusion of legs for miles. That's right, your legs will look longer and more slender. So, if you are 5'3 and under and don't feel like wearing those 5 1/2 inch heels, this is the trick for you.
Also, these will be your go-to-shoe. What does this mean? It means that you wont be reaching for your favorite black pair anymore. If you are afraid that nude might be too plain or boring of a color, you are mistaken. Black and darker colored shoes will cut your leg off at the ankle. Sure, you might get the compliment "cute shoes," but when you wear nude shoes, you get "great legs!" Because this pair makes it so its not about your feet anymore, its about YOU and your curves.
TIP:     Moisturize your legs with lotion that has a little bit of body shimmer. It will give that airbrush effect!

Jungle Fever

Has anyone else noticed that everything is made in leopard print?

That is because it is one of the biggest fashion trends right now and it's so obvious why! This new craze is gorgeous and wild all in one. The only problem is that sometimes people don't realize less is more when it comes to this untamed print. This might be a reason as to why so many turn away from it. So often you will see

girls on TV who wear a cheetah blazer and cheetah leggings. Of course no one wants to look like that. It's ridiculous!
The Trick?
You guessed it! There is just enough cheetah print in a single pair of shoes.

You can wear these kittens with just about anything. Your favorite "Little Black Dress" or some tight jeans and a blazer are a perfect outfit for these shoes. Also, colors are gorgeous to wear with them, but make sure to stick with darker colors so the shoes will stand out! Too many bright colors such as hot pink or turquoise could be too much. Stick with a darker tone such as Red or Royal Blue.

Ok, so I have ranted over and over about making a statement with your shoes, but leopard/cheetah print is just straight up sexy. This design is perfect for a night out with the girls or a hot date. Slip into these bad boys and you'll instantly feel fierce and sexy.

So, forget about all your insecurities! These shoes will make you feel like a predator on the inside and out and really bring out your feline instincts!

The Black Shoe Depression

My mother does something that many women are guilty of. She buys the same shoes over and over again. No, they may not be the same brand, but somehow the same style and color shoe make its way into her closet. It's like opening a door of dullness when there should be a bright light and variety of color representing a huge window of opportunity waiting for you to grab it.

She always picks the same 2.5 inch heels, leather black booties. Why?
"Because they are comfortable and they match with everything."

Here is a little secret that you may not know:     Shoes don't need to be the same colors as your outfit to match!
Also, black, brown and gray are not the only neutral colors!
I am not saying wear bright pink heels to work, but a royal blue or turquoise would be a great shoe to wear with a gray or charcoal suit. Wearing a brighter or more colorful shoe says to other people "recognize me" and still looks professional. It may sound silly, but think about if you would notice it on someone else. The answer is: Yes you would!

It's not just about the color of shoe, but also the style. If you work in a big city and you have to walk to the metro station three blocks away, don't turn down a pair of flats or short wedges because you don't think it looks professional. Change it up! You want to catch the office hunks eye? Here's how: Stand next to him one day in high heels and again the next day in flats. He will be sure to notice the height difference, and have to start a conversation probably starting with, "weren't you taller yesterday?" Don't be offended by it, he  noticed, so flirt back!

Next time you are at the Department store looking at those shameful shoes, stop yourself. Look for a bold pair of shoes that will brighten up your work day!
